# Notes for the App Review team

Everything an App Store reviewer needs to access and review the Porter mobile app.

This page is for Apple's App Review team. The App Store build should be reviewed using the test account below.

Porter records customer conversations, uploads the audio for processing, and returns a transcript, summary, outcome, next step, and coaching score. **You do not need to record a conversation to review the app.** The test account already contains completed conversations and other data that lets you review the main features without waiting for a recording to process.

***

## **Test account**

This is an existing Porter account, not a demo mode. The app uses the same production environment and normal app behavior as a customer account.

|
Information
|
Details
                                    |
| ------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Email**                             | `test+appreviewer@runporter.com`                                     |
| **Password** | Shared with the review team through **1Password**, not printed here. |
| **Build** | **Porter**, pointed at production. Not *Porter DEV*. |

If the 1Password item has not reached you, the contact listed in **App Store Connect** can re-share it.

**Please do not reset the password from the web app.** The same account will be used for future reviews.

***

## **Sign in**

Use the test account credentials above to sign in to the Porter mobile app.

1. Open **Porter**.
2. Enter the test account email and password.
3. Tap **Sign in**.
4. If Porter asks you to select a workspace, select the workspace listed for the account.

The workspace selection screen only appears when an email address belongs to more than one workspace. Porter requires a workspace selection before continuing.

***

## **Why there is no sign-up screen**

Porter is provided to companies for use by their employees. Accounts are created by a workspace admin in the Porter web app, rather than by the person using the mobile app.

For that reason, the mobile app does not include account registration or password reset. Account creation and password management are handled through the web app.

The test account already has access to the features available in the mobile app. There are no in-app purchases or subscriptions required to access the app.

***

## **Review the existing account**

After signing in, the account contains completed conversations and other data that can be reviewed immediately.

#### **Conversations**

Open **Conversations** to see completed recordings, with the most recent recordings shown first.

Open any conversation to review:

* **Summary** — the conversation summary, outcome, and next step.
* **Transcript** — the generated transcript of the recording.
* **Coaching** — the coaching evaluation and score out of 100.

#### **Chat with Porter**

The account also contains existing Chat with Porter conversations.

There are two ways to use Chat with Porter:

* Tap **Chat** in the top-right corner for general questions about conversations, performance, coaching, opportunities, and follow-ups.
* Open a conversation and use the chat option within that conversation to ask questions specifically about that visit.

When Chat with Porter is opened from a conversation, the conversation provides the context for the questions and responses.

#### **Digests**

Open **Account** and select **Digests** to review existing Daily and Weekly digest content.

#### **Account**

Open **Account** to review:

* Profile information
* Recording settings
* Digests
* **Terms of Service**
* **Privacy Policy**
* Account deletion
* **Log out**

***

## **Suggested five-minute review**

To review the main functionality without creating a recording:

1. Open **Conversations**.
2. Open a completed conversation.
3. Review **Summary**, **Transcript**, and **Coaching**.
4. Ask Chat with Porter a question about that conversation.
5. Open **Account** and review the available account options.

***

## **Record a conversation**

Recording a conversation is optional. If you would like to test the recording workflow, any speech can be used; a customer is not required.

1. Open the **Record** tab and tap **Start recording**.
2. The **Before you record** card explains what information is sent for processing, including the audio, optional contact fields, and notes. It also identifies the third-party AI processors used by Porter and states that recordings are visible to the workspace.
3. Tap **I agree, start recording**.
4. When iOS asks for microphone access, allow access.
5. Speak for approximately 30 seconds.
6. Tap **Done**.

Porter first saves the recording on the device and then uploads it for processing. The app displays the upload and processing progress.

Once processing is complete, the conversation is available with its transcript, summary, and coaching results. Processing normally takes a few minutes, so the completed conversations already in the test account can be used instead if you do not want to wait for a new recording.

***

## **Microphone and background audio**

Porter requests microphone access because recording requires access to the device microphone.

Porter also declares the **audio** background mode. This allows an active recording to continue when the screen locks or the user leaves the recorder screen. A field representative may start a recording before putting the phone in a pocket or otherwise moving away from the screen.

Porter records only while a recording is active. It does not use always-on listening, a wake word, or automatic recording.

While a recording is active, the app always provides a visible recording indicator. The full recorder is shown when the recorder is open. When the user navigates elsewhere in the app, a recording pill remains above the tab bar with a live waveform and running time.

A recording ends when the user taps **Done** or when Porter ends the recording after a prolonged period of silence.

***

## **Recording disclosure and consent**

Before each new recording, Porter displays the **Before you record** card.

The card explains:

* What information is sent for processing.
* That audio is processed by Porter and third-party AI providers.
* The third-party AI providers used for recording processing: **AssemblyAI**, **OpenAI**, and **Anthropic**.
* That recordings are visible to the workspace.
* That recording other people may require consent under applicable law.

The user must tap **I agree, start recording** before the recording begins.

Whether consent is required for a particular conversation depends on the applicable law and circumstances. The app does not determine the legal requirements for the person making the recording.

***

## **Chat with Porter AI disclosure**

The first time a user sends a message through Chat with Porter, the app displays an AI disclosure before sending the message.

This disclosure explains that the message and relevant context are sent to third-party AI providers for processing. When Chat with Porter is used from a specific conversation, relevant conversation context is included so Porter can answer questions about that interaction.

## **Features that are intentionally not available**

Some behaviors are not currently supported by the mobile app. They are documented here so they are not mistaken for missing controls or incomplete functionality.

#### **Account management**

Account creation, password reset, and other account management functions are handled through the Porter web app rather than the mobile app.

* Individual recording deletion

A single completed recording cannot currently be deleted from the mobile app or from Porter.

Recordings are uploaded and processed as conversations, and the mobile app does not provide a control for deleting an individual recording.

#### **Private recordings**

Porter does not currently provide a private-recording option. Recordings are available to the workspace, along with the associated transcript, notes, and coaching information according to workspace access.

The **Before you record** disclosure makes this visible before a recording begins.

#### **Speaker labels**

Transcripts currently identify speakers using labels such as **Speaker 1** rather than automatically identifying them as **Rep** or **Customer**.

Porter can distinguish changes between speakers, but it does not have enough information to reliably determine which person is the representative or customer in every conversation.

#### **Device and appearance support**

The mobile app is currently designed for iPhone in portrait orientation and light appearance.

A tablet-optimized layout and dark mode are not currently available.

For the broader list of features that are not currently supported, see [**What Porter does not do yet**](/docs/troubleshooting/what-porter-does-not-do-yet.md).
