# Recording a visit

The part of Porter you use in a driveway. Tap **Start recording**, put the phone away, and tap **Done** when you are finished.

Porter is built around one rule: **a recording cannot be lost.** The audio is written to your phone before anything else happens, and nothing in the app deletes it because something went wrong.
